This was my first time photographing an Alton Mill wedding, and it’s just beautiful in the winter!
It’s no secret that i’m not a fan our long Toronto winters. Especially coming from the west coast where winter lasted about a couple months. But lately i’ve really been trying to make an effort to enjoy winter more and find beauty in it. If you can believe it, this was actually my first winter wedding where we actually had snow. It rained the day before and there was no snow left anywhere around Toronto, so happy to find that they did in fact have snow!
Cheryl and Dale’s wedding was the perfect way to learn to love (okay, maybe like) winter. The grounds at the Alton Mill Art Centre are gorgeous in the winter so I was thrilled that Cheryl and Dale wanted to do all their photos outside even though it was about -10 C on the day! Cheryl was even brave enough to go skating and play a little hockey while still wearing her wedding gown! I love adventurous, easy going brides :) Did I also mention this multi-talented bride also made all of her own flowers, and did her own hair and makeup?
The lake and nearby forest are so pretty even in the winter, I would love to photograph a summer wedding here soon. The indoor space was also the perfect cozy spot to warm up afterwards.
