After photographing a wedding in Tuscany this summer my husband Dave and I headed over to Cinque Terre for a few days of exploring and relaxing. We had never been to CInque Terre before although it’s always been on my must-visit list! I rented us the cutest little airbnb overlooking the ocean in Manarola, which I think is the most picturesque of all the little villages.
On our first evening there we headed out to explore a bit after dinner – and to take tons of photos of the gorgeous scenery of course! While we were watching the sunset over the sea, Mikael handed Dave a camera and asked him to take a photo. We soon realized that it was actually a video and he was proposing! My photographer instincts kicked in and I grabbed my camera to document the whole thing! It’s hard to imagine a more perfect place to get engaged than sunset on the Italian Riviera :) I happened to only have my film camera with me, and since everything happened so fast I didn’t have time to check my settings or take a light reading, so I was kind of nervous that the photos wouldn’t turn out, but i’m so happy they did!
It seemed like such a happy coincidence that they decided to get engaged in front of a wedding photographer, and we were in such a beautiful place that I decided to offer them a mini engagement session while we were both in town! Isabella and Mikael turned out to be a super sweet couple road tripping across Europe in a van from their hometown in Germany. Isabella is also a talented fashion blogger (you can check out her Instagram here) so she luckily had a stylish photoshoot outfit with her! The next morning we had so much fun taking photos and exploring beautiful Manarola together! Seriously, this place is like living in a postcard or a painting! One of my favourite things while travelling is meeting interesting new people, and getting to photograph them in gorgeous places is always a bonus!
Italy has always been one of my favourite place in the world to visit, so if any other brides are thinking of having a destination wedding here I would love to come along ;)
